FLASH pearl air polishing

Let’s face it over-indulgence in red wine, coffee and other strong foods and drinks gradually reduces the lustre of teeth over time and the sullying of our otherwise shining smiles. FLASH pearl air polishing is a rapid and highly effective way of bringing brilliance to your teeth. It gives you a natural looking healthy smile to get you noticed for all the right reasons.

How does it work?

FLASH pearl is a spherical particulate powder designed to roll smoothly over tooth surfaces and penetrate all corners for rapid cleaning. The spherical shape of the powder granules lessens the likelihood of damage to teeth and soft tissue while removing stains quickly and safely.

Who needs it?

FLASH pearl air polishing is recommended for people with heavy stains.

Other benefits...

The powder also reduces the acidity of oral fluids and inhibits bacterial development while decreasing plaque formation.

Scale & Polish

Scaling is the removal of plague and tartar from above and below the gum line. An ultrasonic device may be used to remove heavy deposits and flush bacteria toxins from around the teeth and beneath the gums.

Plague

  • soft, sticky, bacteria infested film
  • continuesly produced in the seliva which baths our teeth

Tartar

  • calculas
  • when plague is not removed by daily flossing, it becomes stone-hard tartar
  • perfect home for bacteria to live in and multiply

Gingivitis

  • inflammation of the gums around the teeth due to the bacteria in the plague & tartar
  • signs: bad breath, bleeding gums, spongy & swollen gums
  • early stage of periodontal disease (gum disease)
  • if treated early enough, gingivitis is nearly always reversible

Gum recession / bone loss

  • caused by ongoing inflammation of gum
  • if left unattended, the bone which surrounds and support the roots of the teeth may also receed with the gum. With severe bone loss, the tooth becomes mobile (loose and wobbly).
  • periodontal disease is the cause of tooth loss in 70% of cases

Periodontal Treatment / Root Planning

This treatment smooths the roughnesses caused by tartar build up on root surfaces below the gum line. Similar to someone who “plane” a piece of wood to remove roughness and irregularities, root planing removes toxins and irregularities that have irritated and infected the root surface.

Periodontal disease

  • weakens the support of the teeth by separating the gum from the teeth
  • destroy some of the bone that supports the tooth's root
  • the pocket caused by this separation allows for greater accumulation of bacteria, plaque, and tartar under the gum, resulting in further erosion or loss of bone and gum supporting the roots of my teeth
  • if left untreated, periodontal disease can cause a person to loose their teeth, and can also have other adverse consequences to their general health

Expected benefits

  • Reduce inflammation and infection
  • After root planing, the gum tissue is more likely to reattach to a clean, smooth root surface and prevent bacteria from colonising under the gum line.
  • Reduce the amount of harmful bacteria in the gum pockets which have been shown in studies to contribute to heart disease, stroke, respiratory disease and pre-term child births, osteoporosis and diabetes.

In conclusion...................HEALTHY GUMS -----> HEALTHY SMILE smiley
